Política internacional pós-blip no universo cinematográfico Marvel: uma análise da série “falcão e o soldado invernal”

Abstract

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the international system was threatened after Thanos, inspired by the Malthusian theory, managed to gather all the infinity stones in his gauntlet to make half the population of the planets disappear and thus avoid the scarcity of natural resources. In this period known as the blip, on Earth, issues of borders and nationalities were not obstacles to world solidarity with refugees who suffered the loss of loved ones. Five years have passed since that event and the population appears again, when the Avengers manage to go back in time and retrieve the gems to reverse the situation. In this post-blip period, governments had to make policy decisions to reintegrate returned people and relocate refugees back to their countries of origin. What comes after that is an ideological dispute between the Flag Smashers, the refugee group that wants the end of the Nation-State, and state actors (captured by the US) through an international intergovernmental organization called the Global Repatriation Council, advocating the Westphalian model of the international system, as shown in the series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”. The purpose of this article is to analyze themes that dialogue with International Relations addressed in the series, such as the role of States and how domestic groups can influence international political decision-making. For this, realistic theories will be used for reading the first five episodes and two-level games for reading mainly the last episode. The justification of this research is to bring International Relations closer to pop culture, making scientific knowledge more didactic and accessible.
